Isaac Denton 1768

East Tennessee is part of Appalachia. At the end of the French and Indian War, colonists began drifting into the area. In 1769, they first settled along the Watauga River. During the Revolution, the Overmountain Men defeated British loyalists at the Battle of Kings Mountain. The State of Franklin was formed in the 1780s, but never admitted to the Union.

Isaac Denton was born on September 14, 1768. He was the son of Isaac Denton and Ann Whitson.

He married Martha Crouch.

Isaac and Martha's children included:

Anna Denton (1804, married Charles Reagan and Joseph Cathcart),
Isaac Denton, Jr. (1805, married Rutha Walling),
George Nolan Denton (1807, married Patsy Robinson),
Tabitha H. Denton (1808, married William Proctor Welch)
Joseph Denton (1811)
Phoebe Denton (1813), and
Jeremiah Denton (1815).
